I do do a lot of writing and planning (which I call ‘desk work’), but I do a lot of bench work as well. Each experiment is a way of answering your questio : my big one is: how do we treat breast cancer. So I have to think about and plan my experiments:how am I going to do them? Do I have all the ingredients – or reagents I need? Do I have all the equipment I need? As a research assistant, my work tends to be more work on the bench work than desk work. I really enjoy that. I like reading about science and thinking about the work,but I like doing things with my hands just as much! Once you’ve done experiments, sitting at a desk seems pretty boring!
