Being a scientist is very challenging but can be really rewarding when you discover something new. Mostly though, it’s really hard work. It takes a fair bit of study and training before you are actually considered a “scientist” so you have to be persistent and dedicated. One of the things many people find really difficult is that you sometimes work on a problem for weeks (or months) without any reward.
I get to work with loads of really smart people from all over the world, and get to travel pretty regularly to meet other scientists and go to conferences. Most people will usually spend a few years living and working overseas at some point, which a fantastic experience.
