Vegetable protein does the same job as protein from meat, but with a lot less fat. So if you want to look at how much protein you get per gram of fat – lentils and beans are probably the best!

It is true that lentils are high in protein compared to other vegetables, but they really do not compare to meat. You need to eat about 4 kilos of cooked lentils to get the same protein as 1 kilo of meat. If you choose lean meats like fish and kangaroo you get all the protein with very little fat.
Also you need a little bit of fat, and the fats in fish are good for you brain.
