This is a great question, kyra, even though it’s hard to pick just one! Another student said in their profile that they thought the greatest invention was whatever saved lives. I thought that was an awesome statement. So..anything that saves lives is a great invention! This includes things like antibiotics, vaccines, surgery, transplant surgery, chemotherapy, heart lung machines..all kinds of incredible medical inventions.
I’d also put in a good word for clean running water and the electric light bulb and just putting eletricity in homes in general. The things you need for a basic, good life. And finally, I would add space shuttles.I think it’s incredible that we aer able to escape the boundary of our planet and walk in space or on the moon.
Hi Kyra – great question! I like the way you think 🙂
My answer is – The internet.
This is an amazing invention that has revolutionised the way we live our lives. It has changed the way we learn, how fast we can exchange ideas and access information. It has the power to influence and connect people all over the world!
It’s a bit like the invention of the printing press in the 15th century – the first time books were made and information could be sent all around the world! Suddenly people could share ideas much faster than ever before, and then the world knowledge boomed.
I think the internet has the power to affect all aspects of science, medicine, health, education. And without it, we wouldn’t be talking to each other here today!
