Bacteria are a single celled organism, which is one of the most primitive forms of life. I think they are typically a few micrometers (1/1000 of a millimeter) in size, but they can be all sorts of different shapes.
They are very much alive!! In fact, they multiply at astonishing rates, which is why they can make us sick sometimes…
Of course, not all bacteria are BAD…there are some good ones as well, such as the ones that live in your belly and help you digest food.
