Question: Do you only study human muscles and brains or of other animals too?

Keywords: , , , ,

  1. I stick to humans and let other scientists handle the animals.

There are two main reasons. First I personally find human physiology more interesting and so that is where I work. Second, the type of experiments I do can’t be done on animals.

Both animal and human experiments are important, but they answer different questions. Animal experiments are good when surgery is needed, because it’s much easier to do in animals. However, while animals can be trained they cannot follow instructions, which is what I need to do my experiments. Also animals bodies work differently to ours, some things are the same and learning about a cat’s brain helps us understand human brains, but ultimately we don’t know how the human brain works unless we study humans.
