Question: How often and over what period do you expose the skin cells to the UVB?

  1. Another good question!

At this stage, I am interested in what happens to skin cells immediately after a low, medium and high dose of UVB. This is equivalent to 30 mins, 1-2 hours or over 3 hours in the sun on a sunny day in Queensland.

Usually I expose my skin samples to a particular dose and look for changes that happen in the first 12 hours and the next 5-7 days after UVB exposure.

In the future, I would also like to see whether repeated doses of UVB exposure are even more dangerous than one big dose. For example, is 30 mins in the sun every day more harmful than one Saturday tanning at the beach without sunscreen??
