Question: How can you catch a cold from being out in the cold ?

Keywords: ,

  1. A cold is caused by an infection. Being out in the cold does not give you this infection, what it does is make you more vulnerable to it. Your immune system normally stops you getting sick, but if you spend too much time out in the cold unprotected it puts a stress on your body. Dealing with that stress for too long can compromise you immune system and make you vulnerable to getting sick.

Other stresses can do the same thing. For example, you will be more vulnerable to getting sick if you are working long hours for too long.
