Question: What do you plan to do after you retire?

Keywords: , , , ,

  1. I don’t think I want to retire! I would like to keep working – in science or anything else – until I aws physically too frail to do anything! In fact, many scientists and academics never really retire. They might officially retire but end up doing many other things and come back to their old workplaces to give lectures and mentor students. There are many scientists like that, including Professor Nossal and Professor Don Metcalfe at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute who worked well into their 70s.

  3. Retire? Unless something was stopping me from working I don’t think I would every retire completely. 🙂

As I get older and start working less I would like to move back to the country and grow fruit and bees.

  4. Hi Ingrid – thanks for all your great questions.

When I retire I want to do all the things I haven’t done already! Like if I haven’t been to see the pyramids, I would want to do that. Or if I haven’t been up in a hot air balloon, I would want to do that!

I would still like to read about science and talk to other scientists, and keep up to date with what’s happening in science – but I think I would like to enjoy having the time to do all the things I want to do.
