Question: Will the vaccine you are creating be permanent or temporary?

  1. The best vaccines are ones that give protection against disease for a really long time. However your immune system can get forgetful, so it is a good idea to get a booster shot for some vaccines. My mum can’t remember all the vaccinations I had when I was a kid, so I got some booster shots a few years ago – just in case!

So I want to make a malaria vaccine that will last for at least a few years. Most of the people who die of malaria are children under the age of 5, and most of the seriously sick kids are usually less than 2 years old. Just babies really. So if we can make a vaccine to protect these little kids through the early years of life, then hopefully we can save lots of lives.
