I am particularly interested in two parts of the brain.
The first is the motor part, which is responsible for controlling the muscles This part is made up of a few smaller parts but the main bit is called the “motor cortex”.
The second part is the sensory part. This is the part of the brain that listens to information from the body, especially from skin and muscles. So when you touch something, “sensory cortex” is involved in helping you feel what you touched.
Motor and sensory cortex are right next to each other and are often grouped together and called “sensorimotor cortex”. Sensory and motor cortex work together to control every movement we make, e.g. running, jumping, walking, eating, everything.
